International money transfers

Read a lot of info from moneyexpert etc as looking to transfer a large sum to Euro's for a property deposit. Small percentage difference can make a big difference, also looking for reliable and easy to deal with company if anybody has good experienes with HiFX, TravelEx etc?

That's 47 euros more for £10,000 than Willtell would get. Granted, not a great deal more, but as they say, better in my pocket than the banks.

I use currencyfair. Get 0.5 cent below the spot rate - 3euros commission.

Normally any foreign payment goes into my normal high st bank, for which I doubt I am getting the best deal.
Question is for the experts, can I set up an account with TransferWise, for which I can then give the business in the USA the Transfer bank account details, then once the payment has cleared, I convert to £, can I put it into my UK high st account?
I did look at the TransferWise website, but I couldn't fathom it out. I don't want to be losing out on several hundred quid due to the High St bank currency rates.

When I bought a property in France I found it helpful to open a local bank account to transfer the deposit. I paid the actual deposit with a cheque from that bank account.
The bank account has been useful since to pay for rates and utility bills.
My UK bank (HSBC) transfers money to my French bank account via a SEPA transfer (costs £4.50) using the IBAN and BIC reference. This is very safe.

I use Transferwise. Highly recomend them. Saved me 100s of GBP in Euro transfers

I used to use HIFX but found Currencies Direct to be the best. I changed up a large sum (over £10,000) a couple of months ago when the Euro rate was 1.2910 to the pound and got 1.2810.
They are very fast too. Do the exchange before lunch and it was in my Credit Agricole account the following day. It does take some time to set up an account due to money laundering regulations requiring a lot of forms and copies of passports etc.

Chevy. Check out Ozforex. I found them to have the best rates - saved me about $10000 when transferring house proceeds from OZ to NZ. No fees if you transfer a minimum amount.

I use a company called Argentex for my business but they have also opened a personal account, don't do a lot but changed $ to £ a while back at 1.58 when the bank were quoting 1.61

I'm currently getting my wages transferred each month from the UK in £ sterling into my australian commonwealth account. Would it work out better to have my employer transfer the money to my uk account then use an different method to get the funds transferred over to oz.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I know a broker at Moneycorp so got all transfer fees waived for my Aunt which made a difference, Roeder-nowhere if you whomail your contact details then I'll pass it on to him.

Try a local bank, it sometimes worth opening a sterling and euros account in the country you are buying in and doing a sterling to sterling transaction and then transfer the sterling into the euro account
